Vancouver vs Gvozd
I like both Vancouver and Gvozd. If you don’t know what Gvozd is it’s a city in Croatia. It isn’t where I was born but, I like to call it my second hometown because that’s where many of my family members live. Both Vancouver and Gvozd have their ups and downs. I guess I’ll start with Vancouver because that’s where I live now.
Vancouver is a fantastic city. Its big, its heavily constructed, and its highly populated. One of the best things about Vancouver is that it is fairly untouched by stupid world issues By this I mean that we don’t have to deal with all the ailments that the world faces and hat we have somewhat isolated ourselves from the rest of the world it’s also much better to live here than most other places. There’s great healthcare, education, great living conditions, and we are fairly advanced technologically. It’s pretty safe here too. We don’t get a lot of crime here in North Vancouver. When I’m out and it’s late at night I usually don’t feel any fear. Some of the negative aspects of Vancouver are the age restrictions, the huge police presence, and the high costs. I believe there shouldn’t be any age restrictions on anything other than driving. I believe this because people are always going to find ways to get it anyways. However, with the illegality I find it to be slightly dangerous and disrupting in certain situations. These situations usually involve drunken teenagers running away from or provoking police officers. If it was legal then the police wouldn’t have a need to get involved unless in the most dire of situations.
I truly love the city of Gvozd or Virginmost as it was originally named. I love the city for so many reasons, but the biggest one is just the fact that it’s my people and my language over there. It’s really refreshing to be able to go there and speak my language all the time instead of English. Since it’s a fairly small city everyone knows each other and each other’s personal issues. This is both a good and bad thing because the one hand everyone always greets you but, on the other hand you don’t get much privacy. The price of anything compared to here is laughably lower. As example is that here the cost of cigarettes, on average, is about $10, over there it is $1.50. The people are all very friendly and very open. This is generally the case all over Europe. They’re always ready to accept new people into their groups. In my opinion, eastern European girls are the best looking girls in the world so, that’s definitely a selling point for me. It’s not all perfect over there though. Some bad things are the curfew, danger, and the variety of commercial goods. Anyone who is under the age of 16 isn’t allowed to be outside after 11:00 pm. Since the police didn’t know me they never questioned me about it. When the dark hits the scary animals come out. It wasn’t uncommon to see wolves, snakes, and foxes while walking home. The stores and supermarkets over there had a selection limited only to European products. I wasn’t able to find any of the flavors or brands of junk food like we have here.
As you can see both cities have their ups and downs. Which city would you prefer? Why do you choose that city?
